Argh…

I’m really frustrated that so many things (including non-diet) have sucralose (aka. Splenda) in them.

My new favorite crackers

Kashi TLC Fire Roasted VegetableMy cousins girlfriend introduced these to me on my first trip to Whole Foods. They are so good!! They are kind of hearty, with a little spice, and they’re good for you! Well, I don’t know about that, but they’re not bad for you :)

Eat your vegetables!

Over the past few months I have wanted to start eating better, increasing healthy foods (fruit, veggies) and getting rid of not so great things (sugar substitutes, too much sugar, saturated fat). This has become more and more important for me for a few reasons… First off, I’m getting old! I need to start taking care of my body better. Secondly, I want to get in shape and lose some fat (and yes, I do need and want to). Last, I’ve been feeling kinda sick and not really myself.

I’ve started shopping at Whole Foods for snacks and breakfasts, and have started trying harder to cook dinner more. I’ve also started walking a little after work.

My breakfast consists of 45g of Aspire cereal topped with 80g of Wallabee Nonfat Vanilla yogurt and 3 large strawberries, which is about 100g (I’m bad at eye-balling so I measure it every morning). For snacks I have Kashi TLC Crunchy Granola Bars (pumpkin spice flax is my fave!), and yogurt mixed with trail mix (mmm!) A new favorite is broccoli and tempeh with garlic soy sauce.

Photo courtesy of No Cookbook BlogMy co-worker is a vegetarian and started posting the meals she comes up with on her blog, No Cookbook. I love her tag line - “QUICK, Food!” :) It’s helped me a lot with ideas on what I can eat and it shows I don’t need a ton of time after work to prepare a good meal. Now, getting my husband to try them is a different story… baby steps!
